Boiler Room LA: 5th Anniversary Mix

Boiler Room TV is an institution of modern sound we know all too well. Since the electronic music began its rise in the U.S., this brand of tasteful and eclectic mixes has spared us all the frustration of trying to find something better than what’s pushed through the bland flavors of corporate radio and music streaming services.

To properly appreciate a birthday, you have to respect the history behind it. Steven Appleyard, one of the founders of Boiler Room, told the UK publication Metro in an interview: “It began in 2010 in a warehouse in Hackney with literally just a webcam attached to the wall and us inviting some friends to come and play records and hang out. It then picked up this organic traction and grew really quickly.”

“Boiler Room TV was born out of the London bass music scene … We like to keep things intimate with around 90 people or so, and it’s engineered so artists have tremendous creative freedom – an alternative to the club, radio or festival circuit – somewhere they can come and play whatever the f*** they like.”

The company now hosts live sets from 65 cities throughout the world, from NYC to London to Tokyo and claims is the “world’s leading community of underground music mixes and emerging artists.”

Because of outlets and Youtube channels like these, less common genres are now reaching a wider audience in no time. This collection is special – it's the Boiler Room LA 5th Anniversary Show feat. some of the Recreator team’s short list of local DJs in the same lineup.

Below you can stream DJ House Shoes, The Gaslamp Killer and plenty of wavy bars from WEDIDIT Collective. If you don't know, you will. And who doesn't need something chill to help you coast into the holidays this weekend? Just listen...
